How do I apply?
All vacancies for apprentices or staff are advertised locally and on this website. All applicants are
expected to complete our full application process including providing references, and interviews will
take place, usually with the head teacher. All of our staff have to undergo an Enhanced DBS check to
ensure that all adults in school are safe to be working with our children and cannot start without
Will I get a job at the end of my apprenticeship?
There is no guarantee of permanent employment with us at the end of a course or placement, but
we do like to ‘grow our own’ staff. All of our apprentices last year gained full time employment
either within out trust or locally.
Can I do voluntary work at Courtlands?
Yes! We welcome volunteers who wish to give up their time for the benefit of our pupils. The same
high standards apply in vetting volunteers as for any other staff member, and an enhanced DBS
check is also needed.
What are the times of the working day?
All staff are expected to arrive in their classes, ready to work, at 8.45am, and the working day ends
at 3.10pm (apart from Tuesday). Staff meetings are held (for all staff) on a Tuesday between 3.30
and 4.30pm. Most staff arrive well before and leave well after these hours just out of their passion
and dedication to the job!
How much will I get paid?
As an apprentice, this depends on your age and what stage of training you are at. Info can be found
on the Government website. Teachers are paid on Teachers Pay and Conditions and our teaching
assistants are usually employed on a grade D (NJC) and the must have a level 3 qualification for this.
All pay for support staff is pro-rata and paid monthly in arrears.
